Lake Cruise

Take a cruise on Lake Windermere. Board at Bowness-on-Windermere and either travel north to Ambleside or South to Lakeside at Newby Bridge where you will find the Aquarium of the Lake, Lakeland Motor Museum & Lakeside & Heverthwaite Railway.

Walking

Windermere makes an ideal base when it comes to walking in the Lake District. The stunning viewpoint across Lake Windermere at Orrest Head can be reached from the door. Slightly further afield you can walk Loughrigg Fell, Tarn Hows, The Langdale Pikes, Fairfield Horseshoe, Kentmere, Coniston Old Man and Helvellyn just to name a few.

Cycling

Grizedale Forest is 12 miles away or less via ferry and offers a choice of cross country and downhill mountain biking. Road bikers can enjoy quiet country lanes or challenging mountain passes such as Kirkstone Pass, Wrynose Pass, Blea Tarn or Hardknott Pass, which is the steepest road in England.
